Beer is fundamentally made from simple ingredients: malt, hops, water, and yeast. However, the possible combinations are endless. In the world of IPAs, hop selection is where a brewer¡Çs skills truly shine. Just like blending spices in curry, the way hops are chosen and used dramatically affects the flavor.
For this release, we are using Zappa hops for the first time. Originating from New Mexico, USA, this hop is named after the legendary rock musician Frank Zappa. Since the 1960s, he has left his mark on the music scene with his boundary-breaking, innovative sound. True to its namesake, Zappa hops offer a distinctive mix of tropical fruit, pine, and dank aromas, all harmoniously intertwined.
In "DOT", we have paired Zappa with Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra—hops known for their bright citrus aromas. Additionally, we have used Kveik yeast, a traditional Norwegian brewing yeast, for fermentation. The interplay of these hops and yeast creates a beer with a fruity aroma and a rich, full-bodied character.
As you take a sip, gentle and sweet citrus notes, reminiscent of ripe oranges, fill your palate, while tropical fruit aromas add a lively accent. This is followed by subtle hints of spice and pine, leaving a complex and lingering depth of flavor. Amidst the abundant hop aroma, a well-balanced malt presence and mild bitterness create a smooth and highly drinkable experience. If you're someone who finds overly bitter beers challenging but still wants to enjoy bold hop aromas, this beer is for you.
